August 26, 2016
Next week at the library: 

Monday, 6:30 pm: STORYTIME for our younger patrons. Dance theme, so wear your dancing shoes!
Wednesday, 7 pm: READING LOG CELEBRATION! For children who kept reading logs over the summer, please join us to celebrate your success with root beer floats!

Thursday, 1 pm: Reading Group meets to discuss the book "Our Souls at Night" by Kent Haruf. All are welcome.

New titles include: "Underground Railroad" - Colson Whitehead, "Another Brooklyn" - Jaqueline Woodson, " Dark Matter" - Blake Crouch, "Last Days of Night" - Graham Moore, "Half Wild" - Robin Macarthur (VT author), "Sweet Tomorrows" -Debbie Macomber and "Patient HM" - Luke Dittrich.

Thanks to the TownHouse Forum group for another great series of author readings this year.

Monday, 6:30 PM Children's Program:
YOGA for kids! Please note --- this will take place at Barrett Hall. 
PLEASE BRING A MAT IF YOU CAN! (Parents are welcome to join in ---- bring a mat!) 

There is still time for kids to start a Summer Reading Log ---- but get going! The deadline is August 15th, only 3 1/2 weeks away!
All children who participate can join in the celebration (Thursday, Aug. 25) and receive a certificate. The Friends of the Morrill Library generously provide

A BIG thank you to everyone who helped make the book sale so successful! Thanks for your donations, purchases, and special thanks to the Friends of the Morrill Library and the many helpers who worked so hard. It is greatly appreciated. 

Our Children's Summer Programs begin this Monday, July 11. Programs start at 6:30, at the library (unless otherwise noted)and are geared toward school-age children (sibs always welcome!). The next few weeks:

We have a busy week at the library:
Monday, 6:30pm: PAJAMA STORYTIME ! Young children are welcome to wear their PJ's to our evening storytime for a read-aloud, an activity and a snack. 

Thursday, 1pm: Reading Group discusses Raymond Chandler's "The Long Goodbye". Everyone is welcome.

Children are welcome to stop in anytime and start a Summer Reading Log.

In the last post about the passes the library has to local attractions, we forgot to mention one of our most popular passes: Billings Farm Museu...

Library Notes--5/6/2016

Please return all LUV audiobooks and DVD's by Monday, so they can soon be returned for a new collection.
From Weds., May 11 - May 18th, the library will be staffed by our wonderful volunteers. You can leave InterLibrary Loan requests, but they will not be searched till after May 18. 

The Reading Group's next pick:  novelist Ann Patchett's memoir, "This is the Portrait of a Happy Marriage".  They will meet Thursday, May 26 at 1pm.

Library Notes--4/30/2016

Have you noticed that a treasured item has been missing from the library? The large portrait of Justin Morrill, painted by Constantino Brumidi is no longer in its place above the mantle. 

The Trustees had an opportunity to send the painting to Barry Bauman, a retired conservator who now only works for non-profits and does not charge for his time. He  has worked on other Brumidi paintings and studied at a land grant college, both factors that led him to accept Morrill’s portrait for restorati...

Library Notes--4/4/2016

The wi-fi is now working at the library ----- in the future, if you have trouble connecting, please let us know asap. The computers in the library are wired and were connected, so we had no way of knowing there was a problem until someone reported it. Sorry for any inconvenience. 
However, the printer is still not working ----- we hope to have this fixed Monday afternoon. (copies can be made)

The Reading Group meets Thursday at 1pm to discuss Jeffrey Lent's book, "A Slant of Light". 

If you know a budding cartoonist who will be 16 by June 1, they have a chance to win a scholarship ($900 value)to a weeklong
