Thanks to so many people, we had another incredibly successful book sale. Special thanks to Rachel Kurland for organizing this event, and to The Friends of the Morrill Library and the many many volunteers who helped ------  sorting, sorting, sorting, setting up, carrying heavy boxes and more heavy boxes. And thanks to all who donated books and came to buy more books! Happy reading.

Monday evening marks the start of our children's summer programs, and we're starting with a special program:
"WHAT'S UP: THE NIGHT SKY", with special guest Brad Vietje, who will help children (and all of us!) understand what's up at night ------ getting to know the constellations, learning to recognize the bright stars and visible planets.
6:30 pm; NEXT DOOR IN THE EDUCATION CENTER AT THE HOMESTEAD.

A recent report:
Under a new policy announced this week by the American Academy of Pediatrics, doctors will advise parents to read aloud to their infants from birth. The New York Times reported the decision evolves from "the increased recognition that an important part of brain development occurs within the first three years of a child's life, and that reading to children enhances vocabulary and other important communication skills."
Of course we support this advice ----- we have a wonderful selection of children's books to encourage you to read aloud to your children, from board books to picture books, beginner readers, and chapter books.
