Summer Reading Program 2024

Adventure Begins at Your Library!

Welcome to Summer Reading 2024! All programs will be held on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30 in the library

unless otherwise noted. Come early or stay late to pick out books for the week. Programs open to all! No summer reading registration required.

Monday June 24, 6:30pm: Adventure Tour Launch!

Come paint the adventure tour bus and sign up for summer reading. Choose your own adventure:

track your minutes or complete 6 weekly reflections to earn a gift certificate to the Norwich Book

Store in August! (registration opens June 17 and rolls until mid July - come anytime to library is open

if you can’t make the kick-off).

Monday, July 1, 6:30pm: Navigation Basics for Young Explorers

Fun for explorers and their grown-ups: we’ll prepare to feed curiosity and wonder, talk about how to

stay safe, and learn to navigate. Come dressed for outdoor adventure and bring a compass if you’ve

got one!

[Monday, July 8: No Program, but come to the Friends Book Sale on Fri. and Sat. July 5 and 6]

Monday, July 15, 6:30pm: Adventure Show and Tell

Have you been on any cool adventures? Bring an artifact or picture from an adventure far or near;

recent or many years ago. Share your story and listen to others’.

Monday, July 22, 6:30pm: Garden Adventures

We’ll snack on home grown garden delights, talk summer gardens and read garden inspired books.

Monday July 29, 5:30pm: Adventure through Food

**This program will be held in the Barrett Hall kitchen - also note early start time**

A special collaboration with “Moon and Stars Arepas” - come at 5:30 to cook with us or come at 6:30

to eat and chat. First we’ll press, fill and fry; then we’ll eat and discuss.

Please RSVP for this session (straffordvtlibrary@gmail.com) - so we can plan to feed all who attend!

Monday August 5, 6:30pm: FIRE TRUCK NIGHT!

Splash party on the green with the Strafford Fire Department. Bring a towel and cross your fingers for a hot day.

Monday August 12, 6:30pm: Ice Cream Social!

Celebrate summer reading with an Ice Cream Social on the Green - Strafford Organic Creamery ice

cream and all the fixins. BYO bowl, spoon, blanket and chairs. Fun and games on the Green provided.

Party will be held in the library in case of rain.

Cookies and Books: a casual evening for big kids to hang out, eat cookies, talk books. Dates forthcoming. Stay tuned to the listserv..
